Calling all Catholic faithful citizens: The Diocese of Owensboro will host “Catholics @ the Capitol: Western Kentucky Gatherings” on Saturday, Jan. 14 at Holy Name of Jesus Parish in Henderson from 10 a.m. – 12:30 p.m. The event is free and open to the public, but please call or email ahead so an approximate number can be anticipated. This is only offered every two years around the state to learn about critical issues that are likely to be considered in the next legislative session in Kentucky, reflect on them in light of Catholic social teaching, and engage with your own legislators close to home.
Catholic Men’s Conference of Western Kentucky
Feb. 11 The Catholic Men’s Conference of Western Kentucky will take place Saturday, February 11, 2017 at the RiverPark Center, 101 Daviess Street in Owensboro, beginning at 9:30 a.m. The conference will address the subject of how to live your life as a Catholic man and will include nationally renowned and dynamic Catholic speakers such as Timothy Michael Cardinal Dolan, Father Larry Richards, and Robert Rogers. The sacrament of Reconciliation will also be available. The conference will conclude with Mass celebrated by Cardinal Dolan. The conference is open to men who are high school seniors or older. A concert of sacred music will be performed at Monastery Immaculate Conception Church in Ferdinand by the University of Notre Dame Folk Choir on Sunday, January 15, at 7 p.m. Eastern time. The public is invited to attend. Admission is free. The choir will present a varied program, including music from South Africa, the theme song from World Youth Day in Poland, Stopford, Gjeilo, and by four talented composers in the choir. The University of Notre Dame Folk Choir is a 65-member ensemble that provides music at the Basilica of the Sacred Heart in South Bend, Indiana. The ensemble sings a wide variety of sacred repertoire, and is known for creative programming, appreciation of world music, and the creation of new music for the Catholic Church.
