Prayer service with Bishop Medley: In light of National Migration Week, Bishop William Medley will preside over a prayer service at St. Stephen Cathedral on Jan. 3, 2017 at 6:30 PM. All are welcome to attend.  The Bishop is calling us to come together and pray as a way to show our solidarity with the people who make up such an important part of our parish and diocesan family.  Please consider attending.

Fr. Carmelo out of town: Fr. Carmelo is in Mexico on          vacation.  If you have a pastoral emergency please contact Patti (270) 302-2782 who will find a priest. Also Fr. Calling all Catholic faithful citizens: The Diocese of Owensboro will host “Catholics @ the Capitol: Western Kentucky Gatherings” on Saturday, Jan. 14 at Holy Name of Jesus Parish in Henderson from 10 a.m. – 12:30 p.m.  The event is free and open to the public, but please call or email ahead so an approximate number can be anticipated. This is only offered every two years around the state to learn about critical issues that are likely to be considered in the next legislative session in Kentucky, reflect on them in light of Catholic social teaching, and engage with your own legislators close to home.

Stress in Your Marriage? – There is less than a week remaining to signup for Retrouvaille. Retrouvaille is a program for married couples that feel bored, frustrated, or angry in their marriage. Some experience coldness and simply shut down. Others experience conflict and arguments in their relationship. Most don’t know how to change the situation or even communicate with their spouse about it. This program has helped thousands of couples experiencing marital difficulty at all levels including disillusionment and deep misery. Yarn Spinners Jan. 6-8: All those who enjoy yarn spinning, weaving, rug hooking, knitting or crocheting are welcome to attend the Jan. 6-8 “Arts at the Mount” spinning weekend at Mount Saint Joseph Conference and Retreat Center, Maple Mount (located 12 miles west of Owensboro on Hwy. 56). All skill levels are welcome. The weekend will include workshops and relaxing time to work on your projects. Sisters of St. Benedict of Ferdinand, Indiana, are hosting a Come and See weekend from Friday, January 6, through Sunday, January 8, at Monastery Immaculate Conception in Ferdinand, Indiana.  Catholic women ages 18-40 are invited to participate in the weekend event centered on the theme of sharing gifts. Visit www.thedome.org/events for additional information or to register.

Catholic Men’s Conference of Western Kentucky | Feb. 11 The Catholic Men’s Conference of Western Kentucky will take place Saturday, February 11, 2017 at the RiverPark Center, 101 Daviess Street in Owensboro, beginning at 9:30 a.m.  The conference will address the subject of how to live your life as a Catholic man and will include nationally renowned and dynamic Catholic speakers such as Timothy Michael Cardinal Dolan, Father Larry Richards, and Robert Rogers.  The sacrament of Reconciliation will also be available.  The conference will conclude with Mass celebrated by Cardinal Dolan.  The conference is open to men who are high school seniors or older.  The cost is $30 for adults and $15 for students, and it includes lunch.  To order tickets or obtain more information, visits their website – www.kycatholic.com or call Randy Clemens at (270) 316-5067.
