Sign up for the Parish pilgrimage Today!  Flyer  We will travel as a group to eat lunch in Russellville, then once at the home of the Fathers of Mercy in Auburn, KY we will learn about the indulgence offered during the year of mercy & cross through the Door of Mercy.  There will be confessions available and we’ll celebrate mass in their chapel.  Come spend the day having a good time with your parish family while growing in your faith!  Please sign-up today (sheet on the bulletin board) so we can decide on our mode of  transportation! Food Drive for Sebree Food Bank: During the entire month of July there will be a container at St. Michael’s to collect canned goods for the Food Bank which has lost some much needed funds recently.  Monetary donations are also welcome and can be sent to “Sebree Food Bank” P.O. Box 823, Sebree, KY 42455.

Vacation Bible School at St. Michael’s: We will have a two day VBS this year on Monday, July 25th & Tuesday, July 26th from 5-8pm.  Lots of helpers are needed for prep work, supervision & helping lead activities.  If you are able to do any of those please let Patti know!  All kids 4yo to 6th grade are welcome to participate! Older youth are welcome as helpers.

Council meeting news: The Parish & Finance Council & Hispanic committee members met last week and chose the new flooring in the parish hall—the first section was installed this weekend!  If you would like to see the full minutes & a copy of the budget for the fiscal year that just begun, there are copies by the door or online at http://smsebree.org/our-parish/our-leadership/

Speaker coming to St. Michael’s: After the morning masses on Sunday, July 24th we will have speakers from the Diocese come give a presentation about the Year of Mercy and how to apply the insights of Pope Francis to our Parish Mission.  Please come join us as we consider God’s will for our parish family!

Our Faith Family

Care of the Earth: Holy Name of Jesus Catholic Church in           Henderson, Ky invites parishioners from across the Diocese of  Owensboro to join them for a lecture on environmental issues and solutions, presented by Sr. Michele Morek, OSU. Sr. Michele is the Executive Director of UNANIMA in New York. She advocates on behalf of women and children, especially for people living in poverty, trafficked, and migrants/refugees, and on environmental issues. Sr. Michele’s talk will be July 7, 2016 at 7 pm at Holy Name.

Living and Leading with Love (L3) – Youth Theology Institute: Brescia University, the only Catholic university in the Diocese of           Owensboro, is looking for incoming high school sophomores and         juniors who want to serve their community in a Catholic context. Suits, Sequins & Sneakers: The Daniel Pitino Shelter is hosting a Gala on July 23, 2016 at 5:00 PM at the Owensboro Convention Center to honor the support of Bishop Emeritus John J. McRaith, past board members, and distinguished guests and benefactors.  Tickets are $125 each and tables are $1,000 to seat ten people.  RSVP with James Barnett, shelter director, at 270-688-9000 or visitpintinoshelter.org.  to register.

 

VOCARE 2016 | September 23, 2016     The Diocese of Owensboro is now accepting registrations for VOCARE 2016, the event of the year for the Diocese.  It is an opportunity to dress your finest and help our Diocese increase awareness of vocations, celebrate vocations to the priesthood and consecrated life, and provide financial support for seminarian education.

The evening begins at 5:00 PM at the Owensboro Convention Center with a cocktail/social hour. Dinner will promptly begin at 6:00 PM and will feature a keynote address by Andy Day, Diocese of Owensboro native and southeast regional director of FOCUS (Fellowship of Catholic University Students).  Those interested in attending can purchase an entire table, a single seat or seats for two.
