Updated Parish Mission Statement – Time to Vote!
The parish leadership would like you to give input on an update of our current parish mission statement. These options are fruit of the conversations at our Parish Planning Day in February. Please take a moment to read through these options and vote below for your favorite. Which best expresses the overall direction and purpose of our parish community?
Option #1: Keep our current Mission Statement
We, the Catholic community of Saint Michael’s Church, commit ourselves to a two-fold mission:
– to helping each member of our church community grow in knowledge and understanding of the Good News as expressed through the words of Jesus Christ, and the traditions of the Catholic Church
– to carrying forth that knowledge and understanding to the members of the local community by our word and example.
Option #2:
We, the diverse people of St. Michael’s Catholic Church,
brothers and sisters in Christ, accept as our mission:
to know our faith
to live by truth and love
to serve the needs of others
to teach by example
and thereby strengthen and
inspire the community.
Option #3:
We, the diverse people of St. Michael’s Catholic Church, brothers and sisters in Christ, accept as our mission:
* Building our lives in the image of Christ through worship, prayer, communion and reconciliation.
* Contributing to the growth of our parish by spreading the Gospel by word, witness, action and evangelization.
* Inviting everyone to serve, in this way meeting the needs of our parishioners and the broader community.
* Being faithful stewards, accountable to God for responsibly sharing our time, talents and treasure.
* Lending support to the parish leadership and working together to fulfill the mission.
Option #4: (short version)
St. Michael’s Catholic Church, a people of diverse cultures and backgrounds, are brought together by God through the Gospel and the teachings of the Church. Our mission is to make disciples of Christ.
Option #5: (long version)
St. Michael’s Catholic Church, a people of diverse cultures and backgrounds, are brought together by God through the Gospel and the teachings of the Church. Our mission is to make disciples of Christ through:
-Prayer and frequent celebration of the Sacraments, especially the Eucharist
-Sharing our faith and educating others about the Church
-Living a life of continual conversion
-Providing our children a strong Catholic upbringing
-Giving comfort to those in need
-Stewardship of our time, talent and treasure
-Acting as the living presence of Christ in our world, building community and welcoming all
-Empowering one another to share the Gospel through our words and by our actions
